Scott M. Brown, DMS, PA-C

Scott M. Brown, DMS, PA-C is a healthcare leader, rural health expert, and recovery advocate with more than 25 years of experience as a Physician Assistant. He is the Chief Operating Officer of Hometown Family Medical Centers and a nationally recognized expert in rural healthcare, addiction medicine, and integrated care delivery.

Dr. Brown earned his Doctor of Medical Science degree from Butler University in May 2024, graduating with a 4.0 GPA while completing both the Healthcare Practice and Administration and Physician Assistant Educator concentrations. His doctoral training focused on leadership, business of medicine, and advancing evidence-based care models in modern healthcare systems.

Over the course of his career, Scott M. Brown has worked across emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgery, and primary care. He has spent the past decade specializing in addiction medicine and developing integrated care models that combine primary care, mental health services, and substance use disorder treatment.

As a healthcare executive and consultant, Dr. Brown has successfully launched and led multiple healthcare organizations, including Rural Health Clinics designed to improve access to care in underserved communities. His work focuses on building scalable, sustainable healthcare systems that address both medical and behavioral health needs.

A defining aspect of Scott M. Brown’s work is his lived experience as a person in long-term recovery. This perspective informs his commitment to recovery advocacy, reducing stigma, and expanding access to compassionate, evidence-based treatment for individuals with substance use disorder.

In addition to his clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Brown is actively involved in education and mentorship. Through his Physician Assistant Educator training, he is committed to helping train the next generation of healthcare professionals and improving how addiction medicine is taught across the country.

Through his work, writing, and leadership, Scott focuses on two central goals: breaking down stigma, labels, and barriers for individuals with substance use disorder, and expanding access to high-quality, integrated healthcare in rural America.
